So as you may already know, I had major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from my colon. That went well, and I was soon up and about and my usual chirpy self.
Then the medics decided I needed a bit of chemo, just to be sure. First round went fine, no real side effects. "This is easy!" I thought.
Round 2 nearly killed me. Week in hospital, lots of drugs and drips. It had completely ravaged my insides. Even now, a blood test for inflammation reported a reading of 90. Maximum normal reading? 5.
Anyway, I've been bringing my brain back from its poisoned zombie state by learning UEFN - Unreal Editor for Fortnite. It's got a completely new language, designed from the ground up to handle multiplayer, multithreaded games.
I'm making a game called BONK! - a silly kill-everyone-else game using physics to bonk your opponents out of the arena and grab their coins. Heavily inspired by Mario Party, Smash Bros and Worms, there's currently two arenas - a bare circular arena where you just bonk each other silly, and a more strategic one offering collectible coins, crates and chests, usually at the end of a narrow and hazardous path. It's purely multiplayer, capped at 10 players for now.
Today I implemented dissolving walkways, using a funky material function I found; rather than get embroiled in mesh splitting / deformation. Here's a quick video of it in action. I'm not an artist, so I'm easily pleased....
